Possible solution: Magnus/the command staff already know, but they're all keeping it secret for Reasons. Keeps some of the secrecy plot (maybe Springer/Arcee/Danny don't know?) by redefining it as an OpSec thing and the whole fic becomes more of a "state-sponsored magical girl" kind of story.
