gonna echo some wisdom tonight
Legend of Actually Zelda is sitting on my recliner ready for tonight when Partner gets home <333 I'll post my first impressions/possible fic notes here as I play. :DDD
EDIT: okay so i fell over before i could write out my impressions, which I probably should have anticipated XD so this is not the Freshest of Takes. But here we go.
First impressions: this. game. is. so. CUTE!!!!! everything about it is adorable!!!! help!!!!!!
BotW/TotK Zelda is still my favorite Zelda but this one is rapidly becoming a close second. I know this is all player projection but there's elements of 'she's the type of person who is ready to risk her life for her peopleespecially if it means she gets to roam all over Hyrule and meet people and have Adventures the instant she gets the opportunity' there and it's honestly very refreshing.
(Also refreshing: Good Dad King of Hyrule. Take notes, Rhoam.)
I'm afraid to use the swordfighter form b/c I keep wasting the gauge by pressing the wrong button trying to switch echoes (TotK muscle memory probably), so I'm probably making combat harder on myself, esp. since there are refill opportunities in the overworld. But I don't feel like I'm missing out, because every encounter with a monster ends up being a mini-puzzle where I have to figure out what echoes would be most useful in each situation. Peahat continues to be OP, but I keep finding excuses to use Carmadillo because it is, as mentioned above, So Cute.
The puzzles so far aren't too obscure. I ran across a couple in caves that I think I need a new power to solve, but that was me roaming Far Afield. (I intended to do the Gerudo Desert quest, I swear! I just got distracted and then wound up in Kakuriko somehow. XD) I did however, miss a trick in the Suthorn Ruins boss fight - I was out of swordfighter juice and kept waiting for refill crystals to show up so I could smack him in the head, only to realize later that I could have just thrown a rock at him. That's me, always missing the obvious solutions. ;P
I was half expecting to be barred from Gerudo Town on general principle; it is genuinely strange to just walk right in. Once again, though, adorable. ^_^ And I won the game of tag first try (eventually)! That's about where I left off last night, so watch for more babble later. ;P
...lastly, I want a smoothie. ;_;
