To me, the bit near the end where Prime loses his cool a bit is actually one of the more touching scenes. He feels like he's just lost the war and it's himself he's really mad at, but instead he yells at the bots fussing over him. It's proof that Optimus does have flaws. ...And Sparkplug is sweet to him regardless.
