Hey, look, fic that isn't Transformers.
I've been fooling around in the 2k3 TMNT universe lately, and I got hit by a plotbunny. So, uh, have a ficsnippet. This is an AU wherein the Turtles were raised and trained by the Shredder and Karai, apart from Splinter.

Splinter hit the floor on his back, knocking the wind out of him. He struggled to get his feet under him again, but the youth and strength of his opponent conspired against him with the bruises he'd already taken: the point of the turtle's katana touched his neck before he could rise.
"Yield," said Leonardo.
Splinter lifted his eyes to Leonardo's. I am sorry, April. It's up to you now. "I yield," he said, and braced himself for the final blow.
It never came. Leonardo pulled back, turning away from his opponent with his sword lowered to the floor. Splinter wasted a moment frozen in surprise before he sat up cautiously. "You will... not take my life?" he asked cautiously.
Leonardo grimaced uncomfortably. "I... I can't."
"Even knowing your master commands it?"
"You're just an old man!" Leonardo burst out. "...Rat. Whatever. You've done my clan no real harm and you're no threat to anyone." Leonardo gestured with his katana restlessly. "Enemy of my master or not... this is a victory without honor."
Splinter smiled to himself as he hoisted his aching old bones up. "You have a strong sense of honor. I admit I'm surprised."
Leonardo turned to face him. "Why would you be surprised by that?" he demanded.
So young, Splinter realized. Younger than April and Casey, closer to Angel's age possibly. "Well," he answered slowly, "you didn't learn that from the Shredder."
"What are you talking about?" Leonardo's hands clenched on his swords.
Splinter held a hand out to him fearlessly. "Come. Let me tell you about my master - and yours."
