Words cannot express how much I HATE the whole "service workers have to smile all the time!" thing. I would never, NEVER expect a stranger to arrange their face in a certain way just to please me, no matter what their job is, and yet people freely demand it of me because of what I do to pay the bills! Like, if you need emotional validation, call a friend, a thirty-second interaction with a neutral face is not going to kill you.
