Roddy!

All the people I ship romantically with this character: Galvatron, Cyclonus and sometimes Scourge get top (cough) billing with Roddy most of the time, but me being a multishipper I have been known to pair him up with others. Optimus Prime, Ultra Magnus, Springer and Arcee come immediately to mind. I've dabbled in pairing him with Blitzwing, Starscream or the Lambo twins once or twice. I've always headcanoned that Autobots in particular tend to fall in the poly side of the spectrum, but Roddy in particular is a hub of multiple polycules in my head. XD
My non-romantic OTP for this character: I love his dynamic with Kup, there's this back-and-forth of familiarity, love and authority that's elastic enough to accomodate Roddy's sudden promotion over Kup's head. I feel like Kup is Roddy's pillar even more than Ultra Magnus is - a touchstone to who he is at his core.
My unpopular opinion about this character: Well, I have found a few like-minded individuals so maybe this isn't as unpopular as it once was, but I am still convinced that Rodimus Prime is a better leader than Optimus was, at least the Optimus we see towards the end of his tenure. He's bolder and more proactive, more willing to make sacrifices and also more successful at reaching out and making connections, which is something postwar Cybertron desperately needs. The one thing you can say is a point in his negatives column, leadership-wise, is that he's far more open about the toll his burdens take on him and even runs away from them once or twice, which cannot be great for the Autobots' morale.
One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon: More interactions with Galvatron. Optimus and Megatron got all these moments that hint at millions of years of old grudges and philosophical arguments and grudging respect
and ship fodderand admittedly their successors don't have nearly that amount of time, but Galvatron and Rodimus hardly seem to interact in canon and it's a shame. Their origin stories are all bound up in each other's so you'd think they'd have a lot to talk/argue/fight about, but it's like they barely exist in each other's orbits. Galvatron always seems more focused on Ultra Magnus than Rodimus, and Rodimus's struggles are always more internal than external.my OTP: ...uh, yeah, see above. XD Despite the lack of canon support I enjoy throwing them together and seeing how they fit. Galvatron's got the reality-bending confidence Roddy has lost and his shameless greed makes Roddy feel wanted despite his perceived shortcomings; Roddy's inherent sweetness soothes Galvatron into being able to focus a bit better - while at the same time topping Roddy makes him feel like history's greatest conquering warlord. ;)
my cross over ship: ...you know, I'm not sure I've ever done a crossover ship for him. Just off the top of my head, how about TMNT's Leonardo? Both have the young-person-shouldering-the-burden-of-leadership thing going on, although they deal with it in different ways... and we know they share an interest in Japanese martial arts and sword culture. :D
a headcanon fact: Rodimus is... ambivalent on the subject of Primus, despite being the one mech in existence who has the closest connection with him. His longest canon sojourn into the Matrix paints a very different picture of his race's origins than 'created by a deity' as well as giving him a million years' worth of nightmares, and in any case a planet-wrecking war and a dead Optimus Prime doesn't point to a universe where a benevolent god is in control by Roddy's estimation.

Mirage
(Er, this should have been a reply to the main post, obviously. User interfaces in confusing shocker :/ )

How I feel about this character: He doesn't show up in my head that often but he's very useful in certain situations, narratively speaking. And in a lot of fics he ends up adding a little complexity to a group that seems otherwise comprised of generally amiable types.
All the people I ship romantically with this character: I know him and Hound are the popular ship and I don't dislike them together, but I'll be honest I kind of prefer to write him with Jazz if I write him with anyone. I've also dabbled in Mirage/Scourge here and there, kind of a take on the "hunter/tracker vs. Mr. Invisible" dynamic with added crossfaction.
My non-romantic OTP for this character: Well, like I said, I don't dislike him with Hound. I like the idea of him finding it reassuring that there's someone who can always keep an eye on him, and that someone is a low-key sweetheart.
My unpopular opinion about this character: Mirage should have had a larger role in the show after his pivotal role in bringing down the Victory in the pilot. There's a hint of something interesting in his dynamic with the rest of the crew in that.
One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon: I mean there's a lot I feel we missed out on due to the cartoon's format, but I wish we could have gotten a little of Mirage talking about his life on Cybertron. Would it be nostalgia or bitterness?
my OTP: Pass. I find his inner life more interesting to probe than his hardware. ;)
my cross over ship: My wife and BFF are over here going 'harem anime! Harem anime! :DDDD' sooo now I'm thinking Mirage/the Turks from FFVII. XD Not sure how that happens, but I'm sure it would be stylish. :D
a headcanon fact: Mirage is an accomplished detailer/gilt artist, kind of the equivalent of a tattooist on Earth only it involves shiny metal inlays.
