So, finished Sea of Stars...
I'm trying to get back to actually getting through some of my video game backlog instead of just pootling around in TotK all year. (At the rate I'm going, I'll be in the nursing home with my nose in my Switch. I'm fine with that.)
SO ANYWAY. Sea of Stars. Fantastic game, holy shit. Not one I think I'll be tempted to replay, because OH MY GOD THE FINAL BOSS. I play retro style JRPG type games because I suck at any and all reflex challenges!!! Why am I suddenly in bullet hell!????!!?!
(Still implemented better than Fairune back in the day, if anyone remembers that. Yes I am still bitter.)
Worth it though, b/c the emotional payoff is so fucking good. I really did fall in love with all of these characters, and while I had my doubts about the bringing-Garl-back thing actually working on an emotional level b/c I'm tired of how death isn't real in comics and such. But damn if they didn't make it work. And it worked because they built up these characters and their relationships throughout the whole game! No one felt like an afterthought! (Puppet!Re'shan notwithstanding.)
I do wish we got a little more info about what the hell is up with Aephorul and his acolytes, admittedly. Maybe they'll address that in a future game.
