Here, have a fuzzy scene.

Remember that Bayverse rewrite I was making noises about a couple years ago? ...yeah, neither did I until I found this in one of my scribble books.

The two of them sat together in silence, Marissa nursing her soda, Optimus nursing his wounds. At length Optimus offered, "I'm sorry you lost your scholarship on our account."

Marissa shot him a look of frank disbelief. Everything he - and the Autobots - had sacrificed, and he was apologizing to her? ...well, that was Optimus all over. "I was thinking," she admitted, shifting her stiff shoulders in a shrug, "I'm not really ready for college yet. Maybe I should, you know, take a gap year and figure out what I really want to do with my life. Get a terrible, grueling, low-paying job and all that."

"A terrible job?" Optimus chuckled. "In that case, I may know someone who's hiring."

That voice could roar across a battlefield and knock speeches out of the park, but it did not do innocence well. Marissa snickered and grinned up at him, pleased to see his optics bright and warm with humor again. "Oh, yeah? Think you can get me an interview?"

"Perhaps, but I don't know about the boss." Optimus tapped his chin, a very human gesture of thoughtfulness put on for theatrical purposes. "He's very unreliable. You probably won't like him."

Marissa scoffed, shoved at his knee - which didn't budge an inch - and was rewarded, richly, with Optimus's laughter.
