Less than a week remaining! I guess we'll see if my daily wordcount drops off a cliff after this.
Stardew Valley, Krobus, lonely
FF7, Sephiroth & Zack, how to cope when you're surrounded by idiots
FF7, Cloud, Claudia, Sephiroth, sprouting wings (plus a companion ficbit)
And, once again, I write a whole ficlet without realizing that the prompter had deleted the prompt (seriously, why do this!?) so here you go: TotK, Zelda & Dinraal, you're family - *
Zelda waits at the edge of the chasm, a warm updraft lifting her hair, tugging at her clothes. She has a bow, but it’s slung at her back rather than in her hands ready for an arrow, and her modified paraglider is back with her tent. Link has his methods; she has hers.
It still takes her breath away when Dinraal erupts from the chasm, wreathed in fire. The dragon arcs skyward, clawing gently at the air, then curls and doubles back, descending in a slow spiral around Zelda until it pauses before her with its muzzle close enough to touch.
The first few times the dragons had paused to acknowledge her, she’d been paralyzed with awe and a strange nameless longing. But that had been - ages ago, in the truest sense of the word, millenia beyond counting. These beings no longer held any mystery for her.
Zelda holds up her offering: an entire lemon cake. Dinraal devours it in one bite, licks its lips, snuffles her hair like a friendly horse and then shakes its great head, showering Zelda with her reward: a shard of horn, a few scales, and a rather startled bird, who Zelda convinces to perch on her shoulder in exchange for a few leftover cake crumbs. The dragon rumbles, the sound so deep it is more felt than heard, and Zelda understands as well as if the dragon had spoken. Little sister. Will you join us in the sky again?
Zelda’s skin prickles with something she dares not name. Only if I am needed, she answers in the same language.
