y'all. the SHIT we have gone through. because our Internet company promised a service they couldn't actually provide.

...but yeah, we're all moved in to our new flat!!!! and somehow, despite the odds, I have actually written a little this month. here you go:

...so I'm back replaying TotK (because the red army's kicking my ass and it's all i have the brain for) and I just did one of the labyrinth quests. The labyrinths have always fascinated me because they hint at a pre-Zonai (or at least pre-Rauru&Sonia) culture, and because of the way they're thematically linked (ha) to the Typhlo Ruins, which I'm thrilled to get to see in daylight.

I've ranted about this before but the Gerudo as portrayed in BotW/TotK drive me a teensy bit crazy, esp. in TotK. Trying to shoehorn an all-female society into a cis-hetero-normative framework, predictably, Does Not Fucking Work for a lot of reasons, so I've been investing brainsweat into pulling them apart and putting them back together in a way that doesn't make my brain hurt. Some or all of this may show up in future fic.

So here's my general idea, and I'm open to feedback. My goal here is not to make a Perfect Unproblematic Society, but to try to give them their own unique outlook and cultural sludge/pitfalls that arise naturally from their society and history.

( It's long but it's all bullet points. )

This took a while because I was processing everything. And then it took a while because it seems like everything takes my brain a while these days. And also because I have FIVE drabble_zone drabbles to link at the end of this and if I wait any longer it's going to be, like, twelve.

( tl;dr it emotionally wrecked me but stumbled on some smaller details. )

Currently playing: Shadows over Loathing, just for something completely different. I do want to 100% TotK, but I'm taking a break for now.
