More Bayverse-rewrite fic.

Toying with the idea of replacing Bumblebee with Arcee in the 'energetic but inexperienced scout' role. And I was in the shower and this scene popped into my head. You know how these things go. ;)

*As our scene opens, Arcee has just saved Marissa from a couple Decepticons via a well-tossed EMP grenade...

"Ahh, oh no!"

Arcee nearly swerved off the road. "Marissa? What is it? What's wrong? Are you injured?" For a moment she was afraid her EMP mine had injured Marissa somehow after all.

Marissa groaned, pressing the buttons on her cell phone to no effect whatsoever. The screen remained dark. "My cell is dead!"

"Oh..." Arcee slowed with a mixture of relief and guilt. "I guess my grenade fried that too. Sorry about that."

"Dammit." Marissa slumped back. "Well, it was old anyway." In a fit of pique, she tossed it out Arcee's open window.

Relief vanished, and Arcee pulled into a U-turn that slammed Marissa back in her seat. "Hey, what the- Arcee!" her passenger protested, but Arcee was in no mood to listen. She drove back to the stretch of road where the busted cell had fallen, dumped Marissa out, and transformed.

"Owww! What the hell!" Marissa complained, then froze as Arcee loomed over her.

"If you want to be friends with us," Arcee told her, her voice tight with anger, "you'd better treat your electronics better than that." She pointed. "Now go pick it up, right now."

"Okay, okay!" Marissa scrambled to her feet and fled her presence, heart pounding. She's scarier than any Decepticon. Am I sure I want to be involved with these people after all?

Road dust floated thick in the air, coating everything within seconds; Marissa couldn't find her cell until she nearly tripped over it. She squatted to pick it up and just held it for a moment, trying to decide whether she wanted to walk toward Arcee or away.

But that 'maturity' thing she'd heard about won out, eventually. Marissa walked back to Arcee, cell phone in hand, head down in anticipation of getting yelled at again. "Sorry," she offered, hoping to soften the blow.

Arcee had her back to her, watching the deserted road with her arms crossed. "...I overreacted," she answered. "I know that thing isn't sapient or anything."

Marissa, not sure what to say, fiddled with the dead cell until Arcee transformed again and opened a car door for her. "Come on. I know a mech who might be able to fix your cell for you."

"Okay." Marissa pocketed the cell and got in again, much more carefully this time.

So, Marissa takes Sam's place in this verse? And Arcee takes Bee's place? I could really sign up for that.

(I think I need to go re-atch season 3, I somehow don't remember G1 Arcee being as sassy. I like her!)

Guess it's kind of like tossing a Teddy bear out the window, lol, not sapient, but sheesh, how mean!

Most excellent rewrite *nod*
