OC Meme, 7
I promised you a good guy. Moogle always delivers. ;D
OC #7: Sagewind [Beast Wars (Steampunk’verse)]
Another young female canon-tagalong. Albeit one that has already garnered some popularity (as in, like, two people know she exists).
Sagewind is a historian and archivist, by no stretch of the imagination a fighter. She was supposed to stay in the Axalon, listen to the adventures of the other team members, and dispassionately write them down for later filing. Then Megatron happened, and plans changed. Now it seems Sagewind’s only hope of surviving the Beast Wars is to become a warrior as cunning as Rattrap, as skilled as Dinobot, and as courageous as Optimus Primal.
…yeah. Spot the vessel for moogle’s insecurities. *cough*
Sagewind’s name comes from a lyric in “Deep in the Heart of Texas,” that goes “The sage in bloom is like perfume” - reflective of her beast mode, which I cheekily made a jackelope, which I was first introduced to in Adorable Themed Bar/Restaurants as a kid in Texas. Hence, she speaks with a Texan accent, though in canon I describe it as a Simfur accent, because I arbitrarily decided that’s where Ironhide’s from originally. (Ah yes, the wide-open prairies of Simfur…) She's also prone to, ah, endearing little turns of phrase like Ironhide ("useless as a screen door on a spaceship!" is a favorite), which nicely inducts her into the Verbal Tic Club. (Population Primal, Megatron, Rattrap, Waspinator, Inferno, and Dinobot.)
Sagewind is pretty good at avoiding fights - her over-land speed rivals Cheetor’s, her being somewhat of a mythical creature and all - but her hopelessness in combat essentially inspires Dinobot to start his Remedial Combat School For Inept Maximals, in which he insists all the Maximals participate in some measure although Sagewind and Cheetor are his favoritetargets students. (Rhinox attended one class. He put Dinobot on his ass and called it graduation.) Sagewind is initially reluctant (and terrible), but with support from Optimus and a few sneaky tips from Rattrap she started to hit her stride and grew to highly respect Dinobot, whom she calls Teach.
She also develops a close friendship with Callie, whom I’ll tell all y’all about tomorrow.
Her weapons are (rather tiny) wrist blasters and a pair of chain grapplers made from her beast-mode antlers.
