OC Meme, 21
Most of you have probably met these guys already, but I may as well stick them up here because I’m kind of proud of them. And I have headcanons - er, well, I guess they’re just ‘canons’ since they’re my characters - that never made it into the fic.
OC #21, The Vosians of Dipolemacy
Skyquake - The Dancemaster of Vos was a member of a Neutral migratory colony headed by Sterling during the war, and it’s largely thanks to his efforts to preserve the Vosian performing arts during that time that Vos is a cultural powerhouse now. Skyquake is big enough to straddle the line between ‘Seeker’ and ‘small shuttle,’ which makes him an unusual dancer-build, but he’s not the type to let that stop him. That might be why he likes Roddy so much.
Darkwing - Briefly saw action on Earth as part of a mercenary group hired by Shockwave, and while he was there he caught a transmission of a certain cartoon. It was so unutterably silly that he nearly grounded himself laughing and was essentially rendered useless for the rest of the mission because he’d keep giggling at inappropriate times. Of course, seeming mental illness has never been a bar to the Decepticons, but Darkwing found it prudent to change his name and lay low after that. His interest in Earth culture, especially cartoons, has only grown since the end of the war; after his brief foray into politics, Darkwing kept up his underground network of contacts by running an underground Earth-media distribution ring.
Cloudstreaker - The third in Skyquake and Darkwing’s working trine, Cloudstreaker doesn’t think of himself as a spy or traitor so much as working to preserve Vosian culture. He and Snowstorm had been relatively high-ranking individuals during Starscream’s Emiracy, and continued to support the Decepticons after the fall of Vos, although their antipathy towards Starscream prevented them from joining up. Cloudstreaker never forgave Iacon for the attack on Vos, and continues to think of the city as the oppressor even though the mechs responsible for the bombardments are all dead.
Sterling - Successfully led and protected her migratory colony (consisting mostly of Vosians, though they picked up a small collection of fliers and grounders from elsewhere by the end of the war) throughout the war. She viewed her teaching position in Skyquake’s dance tower as a well-earned retirement, but upon learning the extent of Snowstorm’s treachery, Sterling put herself forward for Emiracy, intending to reform the position from within to prevent such abuses from happening in the future. It helped her chances for election that she was seen to have ‘tamed’ the Autobot Prime.
Snowstorm - Before the fall of Vos, he was a minor official, quietly seething over his lack of power and recognition. Then the war happened, and he went… kind of off the rails. He survived, and (to his credit) preserved Bridgeway, by cooperating with the Decepticons, and learned how to Charisma along the way; after Unicron broke the Decepticon stranglehold on Cybertron, Snowstorm was perfectly placed to step into the vacant Emiracy position, leveraging the Vosians’ tendency toward insularity and distrust of Iacon to help him win the election. Aaaand y’all know the rest.
Redwing, Boomer and Comet - Part of the new generation of Vosians - Comet is the youngest, having been built by Snowstorm himself just before throwing his hat in the Emiracy ring, but the other two aren’t much older. They all knew each other from various overlappings of their social circles, but it wasn’t until they danced at the election expo that they forged a trine bond together, giving Boomer, with her working-class lineage, an ‘in’ to finally become a dancer in her own right. (Full disclosure: these three are my partner’s headcast originally, they just kind of migrated.)
