Someone say OC Meme?

[personal profile] senmut clued me in to the OC Meme, so you lucky folks get another month of me posting daily with my pointless wurblings and headcanons! Lucky you! :DDD Fair warning, I have been creating self-insert characters since I was five years old, so my heart is on my sleeve here. Brace yourself for a lot of teenage girls.

I'll be posting two a day until I catch up.

No OC list would be complete without my high-school avatar and sanity capacitor, so let's get her done first.

OC #1: Alexis [Beast Wars]

Alexis has gone through a couple of origin stories. Here’s the most recent one:

When Optimus Primal was trapped in that Vok machine in Chain of Command, he made contact with a sapient presence who told him more about the Vok and pleaded with him for rescue. Some time later, he discovered the source: a central control unit powered by someone trapped inside, blind to his presence. The automatic defenses of the control unit drove him out, but he didn’t give up trying to rescue the presence until the day when a heavily damaged stasis pod made landfall. The protoform inside couldn’t be repaired, but the spark was still strong, and so Optimus took it to the central control unit and released it into the presence’s sarcophagus. With this new strength, the presence fought its way free and emerged.

When what emerged was a human, the Maximals were mightily surprised.

Alexis is fourteen-ish and has been a Vok slave since about ten, when the colony ship she was traveling on ran into a transwarp anomoly and vanished. Her cybernetic ’upgrades’ allow her to contain the Maximal spark Optimus gave her, but since the spark doesn’t need to power an entire body, it is capable of giving off excess energy which Alexis channels into energy-pulses or a kind of Force-lightning defensive weapon. Immediately after Optimus rescues her, she rescues him back by channelling her spark-lightning into a stream Megatron had just stepped in. Over the course of subsequent encounters Alexis quickly teaches the Predacons not to grab her, although the spiders’ webs have the effect of absorbing her lightning and rendering her powerless.

Alexis is a ‘canon tagalong’ type of self-insert. Her presence leads to subtle changes in canon that exist only in my head: chief among them being that she manages to shield Quickstrike and Waspinator (but not Inferno, unfortunately) from Megatron aboard the Nemesis at the series finale, so they both survive and join forces with her. Beyond that her quiet, thoughtful stubbornness simply serve as a foil to the rest of the Maximals, and she forms close bonds with each of them in turn.

…like I said, self-insert. *pulls blanket over head* But she was so important to me through high school, you don’t even know. My notebooks were full of doodles of her. I still inhabit her head every so often. More than anyone else on this list, Alexis means safety and home to me.

(Alexis does have a Beast Machines incarnation, which is a neat trick since Beast Machines didn't happen. BMLexis has huge metal wings with bladed edges.)

OC #2: The Youngling Centre 6 [Transformers G1 Season 3]

Originated with my now-defunct Tumblr Roddy, in association with [personal profile] apprentice_lurk’s Prowl. When he’s not off saving the galaxy and its outlying suburbs, Rodimus Prime puts in volunteer time at the Youngling Center, where newly-sparked people go to learn how to be People. His closest friends there are a sexad of younglings who’ve formed a team bond. They are:

Dragonfly: Most likely a future flight-frame, and the most skilled fighter of the group. She’s determined to join the Autobots and become a warrior-leader like Rodimus.

Pace: Thoughtful and methodical, she takes dispatcher lessons from Red Alert. A tactician’s sharp mind in a small and unassuming frame.

Goldstar: The group athlete, and constantly competing with Dragonfly. This drives hir to show off and take risks, which drives hir guardians nuts, but more often than not ei actually has the skills to pull hir stunts off. Or at least escape with only minor scrapes.

Windtracker: Easily distracted, dreamy and thoughtful, ei’s probably the smartest of the group overall, but sometimes gets overlooked in favor of hir louder teammates. Might be a bit sensitive to spirits and the unseen.

Harbinger: ‘Harbie’ lags behind the others in social skills, but mathematics speak to him. The others tend to be protective of him, but when the younglings get in a jam Harbie’s usually the one who gets them out again. [Possibly on some equivalent of the autism spectrum?]

Diva: As his name implies - loud, opinionated, self-assured and a spotlight hog. He also has a protective streak a mile wide, especially where Harbie is concerned.

All six of them look up to Rodimus as an elder brother figure - which pushes Rodimus to try to be the person they believe him to be. …also, there are Many Hugs.
senmut: Autobot symbol (Transformers: Autobots)

Hee - these are all great! I love all the younglings from the center, and OMG I totally had my own version of Alexis where I lived in my head through most of high school (I was Gandalf's assistant wizard, lol).
ilyena_sylph: Bumblebee from Transformers: G1, smiling (Transformers: Bumblebee)

I've been reading, didn't have brain to comment, have brain now.

Alexis sounds like a couple of characters of mine from HS. +wry+

And the youngling batch are adorable.
