For me, the fantasy of this story is “what if the people pushed to the margins are actually very important,” which is something I’ve been thinking about lately.

But also the fantasy is, like. What if tech oligarchs actually cared about culture and education. Imagine that lmao.

a figment of your imagination...?

Answers inside, along with some truly shocking moments that seem to have taken even superhero fans who've seen it all by surprise - so in the name of all that's holy (or unholy), try to avoid spoilers for this one, even though the task may seem impossible. -- Al Ewing

I wish I could remember the specific source, but I saw a post about the JSA once describing them as "This is the Spectre, the literal embodiment of God's wrath. And this is Al. He's short and real mad about it."

Well, one page from this week's JSA 13 put me in mind of it...

Donna and Jack Meet

"Jack Harkness?"

The man flashed a brilliant smile at the lovely lady asking if that was his name. "In the flesh."

"At least you have clothes on this time," the woman sighed. "Donna Noble. We have a friend, a bit of a madman with a blue box, in common."

"Ahh, I see. And… clothes?" Jack asked, the smile only shading toward a bit more professional.

"Bored one night, asked to see the kind of people that had been idiotic enough to get in the box." She then smiled warmly. "You were the only one in the buff."

"Hope you enjoyed."

[ SECRET SUBMISSIONS POST #984 ]

The first secret from this batch will be posted on November 15th.

RULES:
1. One secret link per comment.
2. 750x750 px or smaller.
3. Link directly to the image.

More details on how to send a secret in!

Optional: If you would like your secret's fandom to be noted in the main post along with the secret itself, please put it in the comment along with your secret. If your secret makes the fandom obvious, there's no need to do this. If your fandom is obscure, you should probably tell me what it is.

Optional #2: If you would like WARNINGS (such as spoilers or common triggers -- list of some common ones here) to be noted in the main post before the secret itself, please put it in the comment along with your secret.

Optional #3: If you would like a transcript to be posted along with your secret, put it along with the link in the comment!

Reminder of Rules

Entries should be 100, 200, or 300 words exactly, excluding titles and headers.
Please place the body of your entry behind a cut.
Tag with the appropriate Challenge, Fandom, Type, and Ratings tags. If a tag for your fandom doesn't exist, leave a request on the Tag Request post and I'll create the tags you need. You can request as many fandom tags as you want.
You don't need to use the challenge word or phrase in your drabble, though you can if you like.
Each challenge ends when the new challenge is posted, but if you're a few days late that's still fine.

NEW RULE: DOUBLE AND TRIPLE DRABBLES ARE ALSO ACCEPTED ;)

Have fun!

No idea what's got him so miffed.

As mentioned in the previous post, currently working on trying to develop a more personalized style for drawing the 2003 turtles. Very happy with how the proportions and lineart came out for this one; hoping to work more on things like the anatomy and details as I keep going. (And get better at drawing the joint pads. I hate drawing the joint pads...)

The Darkness of the Archives

Story Summary: Zelda has resigned herself to a dingy office in the dustiest section of the museum basement, but her complacency is disturbed by Ganon, a tech investor who demands access to the collection. As Zelda investigates the objects of his interest, she discovers that some of the more obscure holdings in the underground storage vault are more than mere relics. The museum hides a secret that should perhaps remain buried, but Ganon is relentless in his pursuit of knowledge that has long been forbidden. Despite her better judgment, Zelda finds herself drawn along with him into the mystery of the archives.

…that’s a bit rough, but it works, right? Maybe this story will be fun as Zelda fanfic.

I think it might also be cool for every chapter to include something like a tabletop RPG artifact card that consists of an illustration in (this) style along with a short written passage featuring some Dark Souls / Final Fantasy XII flavor text.

I’d also like to create character illustrations, maybe. I’ve always loved the Dragon Age tarot card style, and it might be an interesting project to learn to replicate it.

The sudden decrease in daylight hours really fucked me (and not in a fun way) this week. I always feel betrayed when this happens, because it sucks and I hate it. I’m doing my best to stay active and not enter hibernation mode, but it’s a struggle. I can totally understand why people used to perform blood sacrifices to bring back the sun.

However! Beloathed war profiteer Dick Cheny is down 🦀🦀🦀 and Zohran Mamdani won the NYC mayoral race by a huge margin despite months of being confronted with some of the most unhinged public Islamophobia I’ve seen in years. Here in Pennsylvania, we managed to retain a roster of Democratic judges who’ve pledged to protect abortion rights. And a new Godzilla movie was announced. So it’s not all darkness.

Theme Prompt: #274 - Near Death Experience (Amnesty 28)
Title: reminders
Fandom: Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story + Bowser Jr's Journey (ft. Mario & Luigi: Dream Team) - AU where Fawful doesn't explode during Bowser's Inside Story.
Rating/Warnings: PG-13 (because of Bowser's potty mouth + kinda poorly implied PTSD from the Dark Bowser fight.)
Word Count: 986 words
Author's Note: Same continuity as Mean Green, just a few years down the line (consider this a precursor to Mario and Luigi: Dream Team in this AU).
Also fun fact I was listening to this during the first half of the fic haha

Summary: Bowser again has trouble with a recurring nightmare about the day he fought Dark Bowser, even after he wakes up, he can't stop thinking about the fact the fight could have ended before it began.

2011 - I don't remember much of this year. It's the last year at the Evol Empire, first year at the lab... so a lot of change.

Thor - Do I have issues with the myth breaking? Yes. But as a superhero movie goes, it was a fun romp. (Personal opinion, the Thor franchise is a bit weaker overall than some of the others).
Captain America: The First Avenger - I loved this one. It's the only one of the CA movies I unilaterally love.

Rise of the Planet of the Apes - OH HELL YEAH. Even having a bunch of actors that I don't usually care for in it could not kill my love of this! And yes, I did watch the originals, but still love this modern take on it.
War Horse - Still uncertain why I chose to watch this, but wound up enjoying the wandering tale greatly.

Green Lantern - On the list because, much as I love Hal, I despised this movie so much in the first 15 minutes I stopped watching it.
Transformers: Dark of the Moon - The novelization was better, and it spawned epic AUs from me and my co-writer at the time.
