Wasn't sure I was gonna write anything today. I got my ASD diagnosis today and that took up a lot of emotional spoons. But, well, the first one was directly related to my feels about it all and it just took over from there.

Transformers G1, Hot Rod & Optimus Prime, comfort no hurt
FF7(R-ish), Aerith, midnight, starlight, twilight
Breath of the Wild, Mipha/Link & Zelda, just as the sweetest apple reddens high on the branch-top...
TMNT, April & A Mystery, Victorian/steampunk AU
Tale of Tamamizu, Tamamizu, sunshine on a rainy day

I just finished Age of Calamity, not including the DLC, so Zelda's going to be loudest in my head for a while. Also wanting to beat Rhoam with a stick.

Breath of the Wild, Zelda, dragons
Breath of the Wild, Zelda & Link, werewolf AU
Transformers G1, Megatron, “some of them want to use you / some of them want to get used by you”

....mostly because my partner gave me Crimson Sun's FF7 tarot deck for Christmas and I wanted to play with it. And I just kinda feel like it now my mojo seems to be coming back. (Fingers crossed.)

...look, I'm following my muse, I'm not responsible if she leads me off a cliff. )

Okay so there's probably a limit to how much you can talk about the monsters in BotW(/LoZ games in general) like they're part of the natural world since they're in effect Ganon's minions and not actually native to the ecosystems they're found in. How much of their behavior is programmed/commanded directly by Ganon and how much is natural? Do they even exist when Ganon's inactive? Age of Calamity shows monsters acting as units, cooperating with and/or tolerating the presence of other species, responding to orders, and otherwise acting in ways you maybe wouldn't expect if they were just doing what came naturally, but the canonicity of AoC is another thorny issue. So for the purposes of this can of worms masquerading as an essay, I'm going to assume that Ganon is suffering from Acts of Princess in BotW's present day and is not exerting direct control over any of the monsters you encounter. What, aside from hostility towards Hylians, do they have in common? Where do they differ? How smart are they really, and how do we even quantify that?

Also, I'm ignoring the Stals because that is just way too much. )

You know, as much as I enjoy post-BotW fic where the author springboards off the true ending*, I really want a post-BotW fic that springboards off the speedrun.

Like, Zelda opens her eyes post banishing Ganon to the Shadow Realm and is presented with her hero: an absolute wild man with 3 hearts, 1 stamina wheel and 0 fucks, who just bombed himself across Hyrule Field wearing nothing but his Zora-issue underpants and a manic expression, clutching the splintered remains of the ladle with which he just beat Ganon's ass. Idk if it would be funnier to be like "Link fully remembers what happened and this is 100 years worth of VENGEANCE" or "Link has lost his memories, this is just who he is when you strip away all the expectations and knight training and everything else that might have served as an internal set of brakes: an absolute Force of Nature barely contained in a body with the constitution of a wet noodle." But a fic starting from either of those points is bound to go to some wild places. :D

*AO3: Here are 13 thousand fics with that exact premise.
Me: Holy shit 13 thousand cakes! :DDDDD also I should bake me one of these too holy shit
